Becoming Finnigan

Joel Finnigan is both a witness and a participant in the pivotal events of the American Century. He parachutes into Normandy on D-Day and leads a rifle company through the Battle of the Bulge. He registers voters in Mississippi in the Freedom Summer of 1964, witnesses the assassination of Bobby Kennedy, loses a son in Vietnam and loves and is loved by a series of women.  Yet he remains haunted by the memory of Susanna Winslow whose misguided sense of duty destroyed their one real chance at happiness.  When Joel meets Althea Burnside, everything changes.

Althea, a brash young woman whose search for love and success has led her from one disastrous relationship to another, becomes obsessed with the idea of reuniting Joel and Susanna. Through the process, Joel and Althea help each other become the people they are meant to be.
Becoming Finnigan is about life and love in the American Century, the choices we make, the impact we have on each other’s lives and the ability of love to survive in spite of seemingly insurmountable obstacles.
